The season is coming full circle for the Browns. It could be ending the way it started at quarterback — with Jake Delhomme No. 1, Seneca Wallace No. 2, and Colt McCoy inactive.

McCoy is out indefinitely with a high ankle sprain of his lower left leg, coach Eric Mangini confirmed. Whether or not the impressive rookie will play again this year is simply a guess.

There are seven weeks left in the season. That’s how long it has taken Delhomme to get back on the field after the second of his two high ankle sprains. Wallace also is in his seventh week since suffering the same injury. He said Wednesday that he’s still not 100 percent.

When Delhomme came back prematurely four weeks into his original high ankle sprain, he hobbled noticeably and aggravated the injury. “I’m optimistic that it will be quicker than (four or five weeks),“ Mangini said. “I’m optimistic this week, but just (having) been through quite a few of them here recently, I temper all my optimism.“
