Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy in protocol

The Vikings may be turning to Max Brosmer at quarterback in Week 13.

Head coach Kevin O’Connell announced on Monday that J.J. McCarthy is in the concussion protocol. O’Connell said that McCarthy reported having concussion symptoms on the flight home after Sunday’s loss to the Packers in Green Bay.

Fantasy Impact:

Brosmer will take the first-team reps while McCarthy is working his way through the protocol and will start against the Seahawks if McCarthy is not cleared for the game. It's typical once a player in is protocol, they will miss the follow week's game. The undrafted rookie is 5-of-8 for 42 yards in four appearances this season, but has never started an NFL game, the story pointed out. The Vikings have said to love Brosmer's skillset, however, he gets a tough test should he start in Week 13 against Seattle.

Terry McLaurin was back at practice today too, Quinn said.

Fantasy Impact:

Jhabvala pointed out that today's practice was more of a jog-through, but it still seems like good news. McLaurin made the trip overseas the last time we saw the Commanders in action, but didn't play, so that hope is McLaurin is trending in the right direction. The bad news is, it's going to be a tough matchup against the Broncos if he plays, and we also reported earlier today it will be Marcus Mariota under center in Week 13 as well.

Todd Bowles said WR Chris Godwin came out of last night's game fine and the plan is definitely to ramp up his usage in the next game.

Still, Godwin will be tough to trust, so perhaps the wait-and-see approach is the best one to take with Godwin. Godwin played on 35% of the snaps in Week 12, which was a loss to the Rams, and had just two catches for nine yards. Baker Mayfield is dealing with a shoulder injury and his status is up in the air for Week 13, so that further complicates things for fantasy owners as far as putting Godwin in your lineup.

Raiders HC Pete Carroll says that he believes RB Ashton Jeanty's late-game ankle injury is not severe.

When asked if there is a chance the injury would limit him in practice this week, he said "I haven't heard that it would yet. It sounds like there's a chance that he'll be ok," the post went on to say. While it sounds encouraging, owners will want to monitor the situation as the week goes on. If Jeanty can't go, Mostert and White would likely see work. The Raiders take on the Chargers in a later Sunday game in Week 13.
