Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy (concussion) has a chance to play Week 14

The Minnesota Vikings could go from one struggling young quarterback to another this week.

J.J. McCarthy could be cleared from the concussion protocol as soon as Monday, coach Kevin O'Connell said Sunday, and he would be in line to start the Vikings' Week 14 game against the Washington Commanders.

O'Connell said McCarthy is still in protocol, but said the team will see how he does on Tuesday. The hype around Brosmer was real heading into last Week 13, but the rookie threw four INTs as the Vikings were shutout 26-0 vs. Seattle. It was the first time the Vikings have been shut out since Week 17 of the 2007 season. Their 305-game streak since then, including the regular season and playoffs, was the third-longest active streak in the NFL, the story said.

Bucs HC Todd Bowles said “it's a possibility” that Mike Evans could return to practice this week.

Fantasy Impact:

The Bucs are slowly getting their weapons back on offense as Godwin was more involved this past week. The team also saw the return of running back Bucky Irving. Evans broke his collarbone in Week 7. Evans' return would put the Bucs at full strength at WR with Egbuka and Godwin forming the team's top-three. Evans' return would also hurt the fantasy value of Johnson and Shepard.

Chargers QB Justin Herbert suffered a broken bone in his left hand during Sunday’s game against the Raiders, head coach Jim Harbaugh said after the game.

Fantasy Impact:

Herbert will undergo surgery on Monday and it is unclear at this point how much time he will miss. Consider him questionable at best for next Monday against the Eagles. If Herbert can’t go, it would be Trey Lance getting the start. Herbert barely missed any action Sunday — Lance threw one pass — completing 15 of 20 passes for 151 yards with two touchdowns and one interception.
