Sutton: Broncos WR Jaylen Waddle's Week 2 performance 'tip of the iceberg'

Week 2 provided more proof of the concept that the Broncos had in mind. Jaylen Waddle had five catches of at least 14 yards, including a 49-yard leaping grab over a defender to set up Denver’s first points of the day in the second quarter. Waddle wound up with eight catches for 138 yards as the Broncos came back from 10 points down to beat the Jaguars 20-13 at home on Sunday.

“I think that’s only the tip of the iceberg for him,” Courtland Sutton said, via the team’s website. “We have more plays in our back pocket that we didn’t even get to get to. And for him to be able go out there and do what he did and us be able to have the success, and him being able to go and put together a very efficient day today, it was very promising. And I look forward to seeing where that goes the rest of the season.”

Fantasy Impact:

Waddle had one catch for two yards on three targets in Week 1, leaving many fantasy owners at a loss - and maybe even with a loss. But his Week 2 performance was more along the lines of what owners had in mind for Waddle this season. After a dud in Week 1, if t was nice to see the Broncos pepper him with 10 targets, making it a point to get him back on track.

Commanders Beat: QB Jayden Daniels (elbow) likely to miss significant time

With the Commanders passing up a field goal attempt to try to score a touchdown with three seconds remaining, Jayden Daniels took the snap from under center and got caught up in the footwork of left guard Chris Paul. As Daniels fell to the ground, he tried to brace with his left elbow, only for it to visibly give way and dislocate.

The injury is likely to sideline Daniels for an extended period.

Fantasy Impact:

The story is already questioning whether or not the Commanders can go forward with Daniels as their franchise QB. After a mostly healthy rookie season in 2024, Daniels will now have gone no more than three games without missing a start to injury since the beginning of the 2025 season, the story pointed out. Daniels missed four games after dislocating the same elbow in Week 9 a year ago, then reaggravated the injury in Week 14 and did not return over the remainder of the season. The Commanders are sitting at 0-2 with a game against Seattle in Week 3.

Bears Beat: QB Kaleb Williams in good spirits after game

Caleb Williams' injury status remains unclear. The third-year pro was able to walk through the locker room after the game unassisted and reportedly was in "good spirits" after the defeat. It certainly doesn't sound like the 24-year-old is expecting to miss significant time, although his status for next week's game against the Eagles is still to be determined.

Fantasy Impact:

It's said to be a possible hamstring injury for Williams. As the update says, without any confirmation, it looks like there is a chance Williams may not miss significant time. But, owners will need to make a backup plan for at least this week against the Eagles, just in case.

Klint Kubiak says Brock Bowers is 'close, very close' to returning

Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak told reporters Sunday that tight end Brock Bowers is "close, very close" to returning and added, "He looks great."

Fantasy Impact:

Bowers went through pre-game warmups before Sunday's game against the Chargers but the Raiders decided to hold him out one more game. It's looking like Bowers will be back for next week's trip to New Orleans. The Raiders are off to a 2-0 start even without Bowers. Michael Mayer caught three passes for 23 yards in Sunday's 26-14 win over the Chargers.
