Former Eagles running back Boston Scott reached an agreement on a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Rams.

The Rams backfield now boasts Kyren Williams, Blake Corum, and Scott, amongst others.

The backfield is a little loaded in Los Angeles at this point in the offseason, but we can expect at least one cut from this group over the summer. Scott was once perceived as a receiving threat but accrued only six targets over ten games last season with the Eagles. He has no standalone value in fantasy.

Eagles’ RB D’Andre Swift was not listed on today’s injury report, and TE Dallas Goedert was a full participant at today’s practice.

Swift coming off the injury report so early in the week should point towards his typical role within the explosive offense.

Goedert looks to see in-game action for the first time since Week 9, and it comes against a huge divisional game against the Dallas Cowboys. His target share will always be somewhat capped with DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown on the field, but he has notched two huge games for a struggling fantasy position: 8-117-1 in Week 5 and 5-77-1 in Week 7.

I’m not expecting #Eagles RB Kenneth Gainwell (ribs) and CB James Bradberry (concussion) to face the #Vikings. Could be the same for S Reed Blankenship (ribs). But DT Fletcher Cox (ribs) is trending toward playing.

The Eagles backfield was surprisingly controlled by Gainwell in Week 1, as he accounted for 14 rushing attempts and four targets while Rashaad Penny was a healthy scratch. We have been in similar situations with Boston Scott, so please don't go add him in anything but incredibly deep leagues, but we should see Penny on the field, and Swift should get a giant bump as well.

Gainwell was the team's RB1 in Week 1, much to the surprise of many. But if he can't go in Week 2, Swift could be in line for a much larger workload than the two touches he got in Week 1. Penny was inactive against the Patriots, and it's also possible he could jump in as the early down back on Thursday night with Swift the change of pace and passing down back. It's a situation to keep an eye on as we get closer to TNF. It's a good matchup for the Eagles against the Vikings at home.

Running back Kenneth Gainwell and safety Reed Blankenship are also dealing with injured ribs. Both players were on the field in the final minutes of the fourth quarter.

As the story said, Gainwell did finish the game despite being listed as not being able to practice today. It's a short week for the Eagles and they host the Vikings on TNF. Gainwell easily led the Eagles backfield in Week 1, but now seems to be dealing with a rib injury heading into Week 2. With only two touches in Week 1, the Eagles have already talked about getting Swift more involved.

After months of wondering what the Eagles’ running back rotation was going to look like, Gainwell played the bulk of the snaps at running back in the Eagles’ tight 25-20 win over the Patriots at Gillette Stadium.

While it was a surprise to many, we did report Gainwell looked to be the team's most trusted back this offseason. And it started late last season when Gainwell started to get valuable snaps down the stretch and in the playoffs, sometimes ahead of Miles Sanders. As the story said, this was a new career high in snaps for Gainwell, who had 14 rushing attempts for 54 yards and also caught 4 passes for 20 yards. Perhaps the bigger surprise as Swift had just two offensive touches for 3 yards and also dropped a pass.

The Eagles could come out in Week 2, a Thursday night game against the Vikings, and perhaps make sure Swift is more involved from the start. HC Nick Sirianni was quoted in the story as saying, “I don't ever want to come out of a game where D'Andre Swift has only two touches, either. Where we were with numbers and some of the things, you know, our first three guys and through camp are those three guys, they dressed. So like I said with Boston [Scott], to have four backs up, Boston and D'Andre both only had one carry, we have to play that number game.”

The Lions are receiving a fourth-round pick in 2025 and a seventh-rounder (No. 219) this year, while the Eagles get D'Andre Swift and Detroit's seventh-round pick (No. 249).

Swift has had quite the Draft weekend after Detroit snagged Gibbs incredibly early in the proceedings. The writing was on the wall, and now he joins a moderately crowded backfield in Philadelphia. The move doesn't necessarily kill the value of Penny, because the team was practically guaranteed to add someone due to Penny's extensive injury history.

Scott and Gainwell, on the other hand, will once again be on the outside looking in, in terms of fantasy viability.

The Eagles aren’t done in the backfield: The team agreed to terms on a one-year deal worth about $2 million with RB Boston Scott.

It would seem —at this point— that the Eagles are going to reload their backfield from 2022 but swap Miles Sanders for Rashaad Penny. We will see what they do during the NFL Draft.

The Eagles coach said every player will have some level of participation in practice today.

Sanders was back at practice last week and looks to be good to go in a nice matchup against Detroit in Week 1. Sanders hasn't really taken off as the team's RB1 but should be in store for a decent volume against the Lions. Scott and Gainwell should also factor in. Sirianni said Gainwell will serve as the team's passing down back while Scott is Sanders' backup.
