Report: Redskins extend QB McNabb

The Washington Redskins and quarterback Donovan McNabb have agreed to a five-year, $78 million extension which could be worth up to $88 million with incentives, a source with knowledge of the agreement told ESPN NFL Insider Michael Smith.

The source said $40 million of the deal will be guaranteed.

Fantasy Impact:

Quite a shocking story when you consider the events over the last two weeks. The Redskins seemed to be doing everything they could to ride McNabb out of town with their comments that made it seem like the QB was out of shape and didn't know the system.

Perhaps a lack of QBs on the market helped this decision. McNabb had a chance to go to Minnesota, but with Brad Childress potentially losing his job, it would make that less likely. Arizona could have been another option but the Cards are a younger team probably looking for a younger QB. The emergence of Colt McCoy in Cleveland takes the Browns out of the picture.

The Eagles, of course, have Mike Vick and Kevin Kolb and most likely one of them will be on the market next year, however would the Birds really trade QB to a division rival...again?
