Jacksonville running back Maurice Jones-Drew, who underwent offseason knee surgery and is just starting to see some work in 11 on 11 drills, said Sunday he now feels no pain in his knee.
"There's just no pain at all, I think that's the biggest thing. No matter how tough it is or how sharp the pain is or dull the pain is, it's pain. This year there is no pain,'' he said.
Last year, he played in pain all season long and made the Pro Bowl before being forced out of the lineup for the final two games.
Jones-Drew also thinks he can carry the entire load and noted he gets better the more he carries, which is the case for most good running backs.
Jones-Drew will not play in the second preseason game Friday night against Atlanta, but expects to be ready to start the season on Sept. 11 against Tennessee.
Although Jones-Drew carries a greater risk this year than he usually does, it's great to hear he is feeling good. It would be nice to see him before the preseason is over and anyone drafting him would be very wise to add Rashad Jennings as a handcuff.
