Lions kicker Hanson undergoes surgery

Lions kicker Jason Hanson had "minor" knee surgery Tuesday morning.
The Lions did not give a timetable for his return, or disclose when the injury occurred, but said he won't play in Saturday's preseason game in Cleveland.
"Jason Hanson had a fairly minor knee procedure done early (Tuesday). He did really well with it, the doctors are pleased with it and we're optimistic we'll get him back on the field pretty quickly," Lions coach Jim Schwartz said. "The idea was rather than let it linger and turn into something that was going to nag him all season, which it likely would have, we decided to do it now while we have a little bit of time and give him a little time to recover."
