Hanson reportedly tells police Cable broke his jaw

NFL.com reported Monday evening that former Raiders assistant coach Randy Hanson cooperated with the Napa Police Department last week, telling a detective the story that has been widely circulated since mid-August — that head coach Tom Cable struck Hanson in a meeting with three other coaches and broke his jaw.

Hanson’s agent, San Francisco-based John McGuinn, offered no other details of his client’s testimony to the NFL web site, but called the incident “a textbook case of felony assault.”

McGuinn said Napa PD detective Mike Walund interviewed Hanson for roughly 90 minutes Friday, and accepted the alleged victim’s medical records.

This was the first time Hanson had spoken to police since they responded to a request from Queen of the Valley Hospital on Aug. 6. The assault supposedly took place at the Napa Valley Marriott the day before.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello confirmed more than a month ago that the league was looking into the incident, but has declined additional comment. McGuinn told NFL.com that neither he nor Hanson has been contacted by the league yet.
