Cedric Benson says his foot is 65 percent

Cedric Benson isn't running quite yet. He has stayed cautious, methodical. For now, the Green Bay Packers running back is sticking with a "high-tech" treadmill. On this device, his injured foot doesn't need to absorb his full body weight. He can adjust the percentage. Right now, he's at 65%. And, in addition to this, Benson has done work on the speed ladder.

"So we’re doing things, things are coming along," Benson said Friday inside the Packers locker room. "I think with the speed ladder and all those things, it’s progressing.”

The Packers won't be seeing Benson any time soon, but he is staying hopeful for a possible return Dec. 9 against the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field. He won't put a specific timetable on anything yet but Benson did say he "absolutely" wants to play in his first game back. There are certain signs he'll be looking for to know he's ready.

”Cedric had the opportunity to have some testing done and everything's positive," McCarthy said. "His rehab has picked up. We'll see where we are next week. We don't have a start-up date exactly when he's going to be ready. We had some good news in the past seven days.”

Fantasy Impact:

James Starks will likely be the lead back until Benson returns to muddle the Packer RBBC even further.
