TCU vs. LSU Odds & Picks: Hear the Tigers Roar!

Online sports betting in Louisana is officially live and the best way to begin the journey is to simply jump right into the action with Louisiana's own LSU Tigers visiting the Horned Frogs of TCU as they get the SEC/Big 12 Challenge tipped off. LSU snapped a three-game losing streak with a win against Texas A&M minus their top two scorers while TCU was just demolished at home against Texas on Tuesday 73-50 and has now lost two of their last three home games. Can LSU win on the road against TCU? Or will the Horned Frogs prove too tough a test for the Tigers? Let's dive into the matchup and see which side bettors should back.

The Tigers lost their top three scorers from a season ago but somehow this team has become more well-rounded and is currently ranked inside the Top 25 with a 16-4 record. Their improvement can easily be attributed to their defense, which through 20 games this year, ranks eighth in points allowed at 58.4 and first in FG% allowed. This, after being atrocious last year, giving up over 75 points per game. They have yet to allow over 70 points in any game this season and have limited every non-conference opponent to 63 points or less, resulting in a perfect 13-0 record. However, in conference play, the Tigers have stumbled on the road, losing three of their last four and averaging just 59 points per game.

TCU has similarly turned the corner on defense, ranking 25th in points allowed per game at 61.4. They have allowed just four of their 17 opponents to score 70 points or more. They turned this into a 10-1 start to the season, but, unfortunately for them, this hasn’t helped much since conference play began. Over their first six Big 12 games, the TCU offense is scoring 58 points per game and has allowed both Baylor and Texas to drop 70 plus in their home arena.

Health is a concern for LSU on Saturday as point guard Xavier Pinson has missed the last five games and Sr. forward Darius Days has multiple ankle injuries—both are questionable. Stylistically, these two teams are very similar in that they rely on defense but even banged up, LSU has an edge offensively and can lean on the likes of Eric Gaines, Tari Eason and Brandon Murray to provide scoring. LSU has also faced a much tougher schedule to date and has shown the ability to shut down inferior teams. It’ll be a tough road test but “Geaux Tigers!” Give me LSU -3 at TCU.
