Perfect Fantasy Football Draft: 12th in a 12-Team ESPN PPR League

The 12th spot in a 12-team league can be something of a pleasure and a pain. Maybe you earned this spot by winning your league last season, for which congratulations are still in order. You can bask in that triumph for a while, though, as you have something of a long wait before you can make your first selection. But with back-to-back picks, you get a chance to move the draft forward by potentially starting a run at a position and creating market value for yourself further down the line.

In this article, I will walk through my favorite players in each round that should be available to me based on ESPN ADP from the No. 12 spot in a 12-team PPR league.

My Plan of Attack When Drafting 12th

Roster Settings: 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex (WR/RB/TE), 1 Kicker, 1 DEF, 6 bench spots

Attack running back early - Proven running back talent has a nasty habit of drying up quickly this season, whereas receiver depth is abundant. I’d love to start my draft with two foundation backs if I can.
Receiving work matters - Pass catching matters in this scoring format, even if a player has to share their backfield with other players. I will ideally target players with a good chance of seizing a good share of their team's receiving work. But I will not reach for a back just because he catches passes if I don't have to.
Ignore kickers and DST until the very end of the draft - these are not positions of high priority in fantasy, and a strong case can be made that weekly streaming at these spots is a viable strategy for success. You should ensure that all of your starting spots and at least a few of your backup players are filled before you even contemplate picking a kicker.
