Week 15 IDP Waiver Wire: Pickups & Targets (Fantasy Football 2023)
We are headed into Week 15, and in most instances, the beginning of the fantasy playoffs. I hope you've been able to navigate poor play, underperformers, and injuries to get to this point to compete for the 'ship.
Let's get to it and look at who you should target from your IDP waiver wire for Week 15.
Linebacker
Jahlani Tavai, LB, New England Patriots
Normally, the LB2 in New England doesn’t get the usage, but that hasn’t been the case for Jahlani Tavai.
Although Tavai isn’t seeing 80% of the snaps, he’s been productive with his usage. The Patriots have been a single-LB/dime defense, but Tavai has been on the field an average of 78% of the snaps over the last six games.
In only one of those games, he’s produced fewer than six tackles and is recording a 14.9% tackle rate resulting in 46 tackles over that timespan. He’s quietly on pace for over 110 tackles and has a season tackle rate of 14%.
Tavai does a good job here of staying back in coverage and reading Mitch Trubisky on the screen:
Most importantly, he’s not missing tackles, as he has just four misses all season. Pro Football Focus (PFF) has him graded as their best defensive player and he’s looked the part. Over the next few weeks, he’ll have value as an LB3/4 and I have a bit more confidence in him over some full-time guys like Pete Werner.
