James Conner is a Lead Running Back with a Back-Up Price Tag

The backfield landscape in the NFL is changing with each passing year, and the emergence of the committee approach to RB usage has caused major shrinkage to the pool of elite fantasy options at the position. With an ADP of 87.6 as RB27, James Conner, as one of the only three-down backs left is the best deal going right now in fantasy football and I’ll lay out why below.

James Conner in the Desert

Conner received the chance of a lifetime in 2018 when Le’Veon Bell held out for a new contract, elevating the then-sophomore to a lead role in the Pittsburgh backfield. He broke out for 972 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns, with another 497 receiving yards and an additional air score. Conner then parlayed that into two more seasons as the Steelers’ starter, which were fairly productive, but also inconsistent due to several missed games each year due to injury (9 total).
