Chargers Through the Air
- QB: Justin Herbert
- WR: Mike Williams
- WR: Josh Palmer, Jalen Guyton
- SLOT: Keenan Allen
- TE: Gerald Everett, Donald Parham
Churning through five different head coaches during the last six years of his football career, Justin Herbert finally finds himself in the same intuitive system under QBs coach Shane Day and OC Joe Lombardi, and behind a familiar (if not improved) group of hogmollies that permitted the third-lowest pressure rate (27.1%) in the league. Although the 24-year-old averaged an unimpressive 7.6 intended air yards (23rd) and 7.9-yard depth of target (25th) by season’s end, Los Angeles’ aggressiveness on early downs allowed him to convert the league’s fourth-highest pass play rate into the second-most fantasy points per game at his position. With continuity in place and two projected 50-point games (Buccaneers, Rams) sandwiched on the team’s schedule from Weeks 15 to 17 for the fantasy playoffs, Herbert is cemented as my overall QB3 ahead of Patrick Mahomes and Kyler Murray respectively. Opening up the playbook even a little more would go a long way.
