Streaming Tight Ends: Week 8 Targets

This week the fantasy bye gods give us a break, as the four teams watching from their living rooms aren’t the most fruitful when it comes to tight end. We’ll be without Logan Thomas who has become a decent streamer, but the remaining three teams (Jacksonville, Houston, Arizona) aren’t regular producers, or ones most managers count on weekly.

As a strategy, streaming aims to find players with above-average matchups, which can hopefully translate to fantasy TE1 production for your fantasy squad. For streaming purposes, 4for4’s Schedule-Adjusted Fantasy Points Allowed (aFPA) is a metric we rely heavily on to determine weekly matchup strength. As the season continues to progress and more data is available, aFPA becomes more and more reliable, using rolling 10-week data. Targets and efficiency metrics are also considered when choosing weekly streamers.

In Week 7, three of my six streaming suggestions finished as TE7 or better in half-PPR points, with Logan Thomas the TE4 (14.0), Richard Rodgers ending as the TE6 (11.5), and Gerald Everett’s 10.8 was fantasy TE7 on the week. So far, 4for4’s optimal streamer boasts 118.4 total points—good enough for the overall fantasy TE1 on the season.

In order to provide advice you can actually implement, candidates for streaming must be rostered in no more than 40% of Yahoo! fantasy leagues.

Richard Rodgers (Eagles) vs. Cowboys

Fire up all the Dick Rod puns, because Richard Rodgers is my top recommendation of the week. He caught 6-of-8 targets for 85 yards in Week 7, ending as the fantasy TE6 in the absence of both Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert.

This week he gets a dream matchup against Dallas, whose defensive unit ranks 25th in TE aFPA and has allowed double-digit performances from Hayden Hurst, Austin Hooper and Logan Thomas so far in 2020. Dick Rod is free on 98% of Yahoo! rosters so grab and insert him this week if you’re in need.
