DFS Tight End Analysis: Week 15

DFS is a game of exploiting a lot of small edges, therefore all options at each position should be explored every week. Below is an analysis of this week’s tight ends on the main slate, including the upside and downside of the most viable players on the slate with explanations for how you might adjust your approach to the position depending on the game type.

Chalk

In what’s expected to be the highest-scoring game of the week, by a fairly wide margin, Rob Gronkowski figures to draw ownership nearly twice that of any other tight end on the main slate. Because he is priced so much higher than the field, there isn’t a true price pivot off of Gronk. Dropping down to even the TE2 can lead to an overall shift in lineup construction.

  • New England is favored by three in the only game on the main slate with an over/under above 50 points. Rob Gronkowski ($8,500 FD/$7,300 DK) is projected as the top value at his position on both sites, despite facing a Pittsburgh defense ranked first in schedule-adjusted fantasy points allowed (aFPA) to tight ends. While Gronk’s red zone presence in a high-scoring game gives him massive upside, the Patriots finally have a receiving corps at full strength and only four defenses have allowed a lower red zone touchdown rate through the air than the Steelers.
