Week 2 Essential NFL Practice News & Notes for Thursday

Colts QB Andrew Luck (right shoulder) was added to the injury report Thursday after taking limited practice reps. Luck should be fine to face the Broncos, but it’s a bad matchup.

Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) missed practice again Thursday. Dak Prescott will continue to start.

Seahawks QB Russell Wilson (ankle) practiced fully Wednesday. It looks like Wilson is on track to play in Week 2 against the Rams. He may be a bit limited in the running game but he says he’s “ready to roll.”

Eagles RB Kenjon Barner (not injury related) missed practice Thursday.

Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (knee) took limited practice reps again Thursday. Charles is reportedly playing with the scout team, which isn’t a good sign for his Week 2 availability. Spencer Ware figures to carry the load against the Texans.

Ravens RB Kenneth Dixon (knee) missed practice again Thursday.

Dolphins RB Arian Foster (hamstring) returned to full practice reps Thursday after missing Wednesday. Foster’s absence earlier in the week was a bit worrisome given his history of soft-tissue injuries, but it looks like it was just a maintenance day. This should serve as a reminder that Jay Ajayi has value as an attrition play given Foster’s long history of injury, though it should be noted that he doesn’t have the backup job locked up.

Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (quadricep) took full practice reps Thursday after being limited Wednesday. Freeman has found himself in a committee with Tevin Coleman. An injury could cause him to lose the RB1 by attrition, though his full participation indicates that he will play against the Raiders.
