Buccaneers Head Coach Bruce Arians confirmed that Leonard Fournette will start for Ronald Jones if Jones isn't activated from the COVID list for Sunday's game.

Fantasy Impact: 

The news isn't surprising, but it is good to hear confirmation that Fournette will get the starting nod from the team's head coach so early in the week. If Jones does end up sitting, Fournette should get a significant workload against the Falcons on Sunday. We have Fournette ranked as a mid-tier RB2 in the event he gets the start against Atlanta.

The Buccaneers placed running back Ronald Jones on the Reserve/COVID list Wednesday.

Fantasy Impact: 

We don't know any details but this should torpedo Jones's chances of suiting up against the Falcons this week. He was already recovering from finger surgery and now has to get off the COVID list to return. Leonard Fournette and LeSean McCoy will handle backfield duties for the Bucs this week and perhaps beyond.

Buccaneers Head Coach Bruce Arians told reporters that running back Ronald Jones could practice Thursday but will "definitely" practice Friday but his status for Week 15 is uncertain.

Fantasy Impact: 

Jones had surgery on his finger earlier this week and is questionable to play Week 15. Fantasy managers will have to wait to see Jones's practice status and game designation on Friday before inserting him into lineups this week. If Jones sits against Atlanta, Leonard Fournette, a healthy scratch last week, would take over as the primary ball carrier for the Bucs.

RB Ronald Jones is scheduled today to have a surgical procedure to have a pin placed in his broken pinky finger.

Fantasy Impact: 

His status is uncertain for Week 15 at this point, but owners should probably be prepared to be without him. Last week, Fournette was a healthy scratch as McCoy moved up to be the RB2. We reported Monday from the The Athletic that McCoy could very well earn and keep the RB2 job, but with Jones possibly out, it could be more of a split between McCoy and Fournette in Week 15. Owners should continue to monitor heading into Week 15 but McCoy is worth a pickup since he's likely on your waiver wire.
