Scouting report

BAL TE Mark Andrews - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Las Vegas Raiders
The panic surrounding Mark Andrews is very real, but it's mostly unfounded. Simply put, the Chiefs have long done all they can to suppress Andrews, and have now allowed him an average of 3.4 half-PPR points over their last five games against him. Things will get better moving forward, starting in Week 2.

BAL TE Mark Andrews - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at Kansas City Chiefs
We should know what we have in Mark Andrews if he is truly back to health by Week 1; one of the few tight ends in the league who can lead his team in targets, receiving touchdowns, and maybe even yardage. The Chief's defense was about league-average against the tight end position last year, and even if they were a particularly strong defense against TE, Andrews is still a locked-in top-5 option.

BAL TE Mark Andrews - 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
When on the field in 2023, Mark Andrews was his typical high-floor/high-ceiling self, scoring 11.3 half-PPR points per game and 12.2 PPG if we remove his injury-shortened Week 11. Between Weeks 2-10, he was tied for the lead (T.J. Hockenson, Jake Ferguson) in targets from within the opponent's 10-yard line, converting them into four scores. Andrews is, by all accounts, back to full health heading into 2024 and could very easily lead the team in targets once again.

Fantasy Downside
The ankle injury Andrews suffered last year was brutal looking and may keep the 29-year-old TE from bouncing back to his previous levels. Young Bucks Trey McBride and Dalton Kincaid have no such issues and are going a little later in ADP. There's also the addition of Derrick Henry, which could threaten the passing game around the goal line.

2024 Bottom Line
We should know what we have in Mark Andrews if he is truly back to health by Week 1; one of the few tight ends in the league who can lead his team in targets, receiving touchdowns, and maybe even yardage. Better yet, he is coming at a two-plus round discount than the last two seasons, in a great offensive environment, with incredible chemistry with his quarterback. Throw the injury concerns out the window and draft Andrews anywhere you can.

BAL TE Mark Andrews - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Mark Andrews had 44 yards on a pair of receptions last week in a loss to the Browns. It was a down game for Andrews, but he remains one of the best and most consistent fantasy tight ends in the league. He has six touchdowns this year and double-digit half-PPR points in four out of nine games.

This week, Andrews has a great matchup against a Cincinnati defense that ranks 31st in aFPA to opposing tight ends. Even if it wasn’t a good matchup, you’d be starting Andrews, but with Cincinnati giving up so much to the position, Andrews should be considered one of the very top options at the position. Start him, as always.

BAL TE Mark Andrews - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Cleveland Browns

Mark Andrews didn’t find the end zone last week, but he caught nine of his 10 targets for 80 yards, turning in a quality fantasy day at the tight end position. Andrews has at least four receptions and at least five targets in every game this year and he’s scored six touchdowns in eight outings. That kind of consistency is tough to find at his position.

Andrews has a tough matchup against an impressive Browns defense that ranks second in aFPA to opposing tight ends. With Travis Kelce on bye this week, Andrews steps into our TE1 ranking and he should be active in all leagues, regardless of the matchup.

BAL TE Mark Andrews - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Seattle Seahawks

Mark Andrews caught four of his five targets for 40 yards and his sixth touchdown of the year against the Cardinals last week. Andrews has now scored at least one touchdown in four out of seven games this season and he continues to be one of the most valuable tight ends in all of fantasy football.

This week, Andrews faces a Seattle defense that ranks 16th in aFPA to opposing tight ends. Regardless of matchup, Andrews is a must-start in all leagues, and expect another steady dose of targets to head his way in this one. We have him ranked as an elite fantasy option once again.

BAL TE Mark Andrews - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at Arizona Cardinals

Mark Andrews caught four balls for 63 yards and a pair of touchdowns last week in a blowout victory over the Lions. The Ravens were dominant on offense, hanging 38 points on the shell-shocked Detroit defense. Andrews continues to be one of the most productive players at his position.

This week, Andrews faces a Cardinals defense that has actually been pretty stingy against opposing tight ends. They rank in the bottom five in the league against opposing receivers, running backs, and quarterbacks, but are ranked all the way at number six against tight ends. Still, even with a matchup against the rangy Cardinals linebackers, Andrews is a must-start. He simply gets too many targets to ignore. We have him ranked as an elite fantasy option once again.
