I’ll add my thoughts to the general Josh Reynolds discussion… it’s not crazy to think that Marcus Johnson or Chester Rogers could emerge as the Titans WR3 given how camp has gone. He’s making $762,500 more than Johnson, it’s not like they’re super committed to him financially.
It's not that long ago Reynolds was a popular fantasy target and a potential WR2. But now Julio Jones is opposite A.J. Brown and Herndon went as far to say that it wouldn't be jaw-dropping if Reynolds doesn't make the cut. Herndon added Reynolds has some work to do the rest of camp.
IND WR Marcus Johnson - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook
Week 8 at Detroit Lions
Marcus Johnson caught a 55-yarder against the Bengals before the bye last week, and was targeted a team-high eight times. He finished with 108 yards after catching three balls for 53 yards the previous week. T.Y. Hilton has struggled, rookie Michael Pittman is hurt, and we don’t fully know who Philip Rivers is going to favor in this offense, so it wouldn’t hurt to grab Johnson in his fourth season out of Texas as a speculative add.
This week, the Colts face a Lions’ defense that ranks 19th in aFPA to opposing wide receivers, so there’s some upside if Johnson can hit eight targets again. It’s risky to trust any Colts receiver, as five of Rivers’ seven touchdown passes this year have gone to running backs and tight ends, but if you’re desperate for a bye week or injury replacement, Johnson has some boom-bust potential.
