Lions RB Tra Carson (hamstring) was added to the injury report Thursday after taking limited practice reps. This looks like a midweek downgrade. If he's out, Ty Johnson and J.D. McKissic would likely form a two-man committee against the Raiders.

Mired in a three-game losing streak, the Lions are dealing with another setback made official on Tuesday.

Running back Kerryon Johnson has been placed on injured reserve due to a knee injury, the team announced.

Fantasy Impact: 

Johnson will miss at least the next eight games. The earliest he can return is Week 16, which pretty much puts him back for fantasy finals in most leagues. Unless you have an IR spot, he would be risky to keep on your bench in redraft leagues. Ty Johnson will be a popular pickup this week as will McKissic. Ty Johnson should get the early down work with McKissic a change of pace option.

Kerryon Johnson met with Detroit Lions doctors Monday, but otherwise coach Matt Patricia had little update about the right knee injury his running back suffered in a 42-30 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted Monday night Johnson "is expected to miss 'some time' with a knee injury" and is week to week. Schefter does not expect Johnson to play Sunday against the New York Giants.

Fantasy Impact: 

The story said not much is known by Patricia at the moment but he hopes to have some clarity Tuesday. He said Johnson told him he was fine in a brief conversation. Johnson wore a knee brace after leaving the game and rode a stationary bike, but never returned. Ty Johnson will be a huge pickup this week on the wire with a nice matchup against the Giants. McKissic will remain in the passing down role. Hopefully we get more of a timeline, perhaps Tuesday, but for now it looks like Ty Johnson will get the start Week 8 at least.

Lions running back Kerryon Johnson went to the locker room with a knee injury in the second quarter, then later re-emerged on the sideline with a brace on his right knee.

Fantasy Impact: 

Johnson had a noticeable limp according to reports so his Week 8 status is a big question right now. Ty Johnson will likely be a poplar pickup this week if he's still available on waiver wires and should take over if Kerryon Johnson misses time. The Lions have a nice matchup against the Giants in Week 8.
