The Rams had only four wide receivers available for Sunday's season opener, but that could change in a hurry. League sources told the Post-Dispatch that former New York Giants wide receiver David Tyree is scheduled to visit the Rams today and take a physical.
The Ravens worked out free-agent wide receiver David Tyree on Tuesday, general manager Ozzie Newsome confirmed to the team's Web site.
Tyree, 29, is taking a physical, which could be the final step to the Ravens signing him. This marks the Ravens' first attempt to upgrade their wide receiver group since the final major cutdown last weekend.
The Giants have made the tough decision everyone seemed to know was coming.
David Tyree, the Super Bowl XLII hero, has been released, according to his agent, Michael Clouser.
"I talked to (assistant GM) Kevin Ab Rams this morning and he said it was a very tough decision for the team," Clouser said by phone minutes ago. "Like anyone else, it was a tough thing for David to hear. He's actually saying his goodbyes to his teammates right now.
