Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone "just spent 5 minutes casting doubt on the idea that James Robinson is his lead back and Chris Thompson is his change-of-pace option," according to Andrew Siciliano of NFL Network. "He said both backs are talented enough to handle any role."
Leave it to Doug Marrone to throw cold water on one of the hottest names in fantasy football. The running back situation is far from set in stone, but it is clear that Robinson and Thompson will see their fair share of work Week 1 and going forward.
Jaguars RB Devine Ozigbo (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday. It's looking like it's going to be the James Robinson show on early downs if Ozigbo is out. Chris Thompson figures to get a lot of work on third downs.
Armstead was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list for the second time and doesn't have a timetable to return. As a result, Robinson, Ozigbo and Thompson will get the first opportunity without Leonard Fournette. Robinson is an undrafted rookie but it looks like he may get the first crack in Week 1 against the Colts.
