Scouting report

CAR QB Bryce Young - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. Atlanta Falcons

Bryce Young had another dismal outing against the Saints last week, throwing for just 137 yards and no touchdowns in another loss. Young completed just 36% of his passes. Things seem to just be getting worse for the rookie, and fantasy managers should stay far away from him in their lineups as we enter playoff time.

CAR QB Bryce Young - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at New Orleans Saints

Bryce Young had just 178 yards and a pick in what should’ve been a pretty good matchup against the Buccaneers last week. Forget 300 yards, Young hasn’t eclipsed 200 yards passing since late-October and he’s only had one game with more than one touchdown pass. So much for a new coach making a difference in this dreadful Carolina season. Young struggled against the Saints in Week 2 of this season, and there’s no reason to suspect a different result this time around. Young should stay on waivers in most leagues.

CAR QB Bryce Young - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Bryce Young continued to struggle last week in a loss to the Titans. He completed just 58.1% of his passes as the Panthers scored only 10 points, leading to the dismissal of Head Coach Frank Reich and multiple assistant coaches. Young looked pretty good on a first-down scramble mid-game, but overall he continues to struggle to sustain drives.

This week, Young faces a Tampa Bay defense that ranks 26th in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks. There’s some upside with Young, if you’re desperate. A coaching change can sometimes provide a new wrinkle for a struggling offense and it’s a great matchup. Still, Young has yet to put up solid fantasy numbers thus far, so managers should still look elsewhere.

CAR QB Bryce Young - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Tennessee Titans

Bryce Young continues to regress. He threw another pick-six last week in a lopsided loss to the Cowboys, and he completed just 55.2% of his passes - the lowest numbers since Week 1. Young finished with just 123 yards, though he did throw a touchdown pass to Tommy Tremble. Young and the Carolina offense looks terrible right now, and even against a vulnerable Titans defense that just gave up big numbers to Trevor Lawrence, it’s hard to justify starting Young. He should stay on waivers in most leagues.

CAR QB Bryce Young - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Dallas Cowboys

Bryce Young seems to be regressing as the season continues. Following three interceptions in Week 9, he led a stagnant offense in a loss to the Bears last week, throwing for 185 yards and completing just 55.3% of his passes. Young has eight touchdowns and seven interceptions this year, and has yet to eclipse 300 yards passing in a game.

This week, Young faces a Dallas defense that ranks 12th in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks. Don’t expect the rookie to rebound this week in a tough matchup. There is potential for garbage stats in what could be an ugly, lopsided game, but Young hasn’t really been able to capitalize on that in most games this season, so fantasy managers should stay away.

CAR QB Bryce Young - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 at Chicago Bears

Bryce Young threw for 173 yards and a touchdown against the Colts last week, but he also threw three interceptions in arguably his worst game this season. Young did add a season-high 41 rushing yards on five attempts, but it was overall a dismal showing for Young and the Carolina offense.

This week, Young has a great matchup against the Bears, who rank 28th in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks. That said, Young has failed to take full advantage of good matchups before and with the Carolina offense struggling in general, it’s hard to recommend starting Young as anything more than a low-end QB2 in SuperFlex leagues.

CAR QB Bryce Young - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Indianapolis Colts

Bryce Young got his first win of his young career, throwing for 235 yards and a touchdown in a victory over the Houston Texans. Young is slowly getting better each week and hasn’t thrown an interception in either of his last two starts.

Young has a great matchup this week against the Colts, who rank 27th in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks and just got lit up by Derek Carr and the New Orleans Saints. With Young improving bit by bit and a vulnerable defense on the docket, it’s worth considering him as a Week 9 streaming option. We have him ranked just outside QB1 territory.
