The Chargers are signing long-time Green Bay Packers wideout, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per a source aware of the move.
Rapoport reported earlier that the Chargers were hosting Jones and former Dolphins wide receiver Brian Hartline on Tuesday, per sources. In addition, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported former Lions receiver Lance Moore would also work out for the team.
It's clear the 32-year-old has lost a step, won't get much separation from corners and will rely on timing with the quarterback to earn any production in his 10th NFL season, the story said. With Keenan Allen and Travis Benjamin look like they will start, so the Chargers might be comfortable using Jones as a veteran replacement in a limited role in 2016. However as we reported several times, it's not out of the question Allen gets time in the slot with Jones on the outside.
The move shouldn't be a surprise. The 29-year-old receiver struggled to gain separation the past several seasons and was a below-replacement-level wideout on one of the shallowest pass-catching groups in the NFL. Hartline compiled 523 yards on 46 receptions, with two touchdowns in 12 games last season, his only year in Cleveland.
The Browns are making room for the four receivers they selected in the draft. They are in full rebuilding mode, so holding on to a 29-year-old receiver was not in their plans.
Browns wide receiver Brian Hartline has been placed on injured reserve with a broken left collarbone, ending his first season with Cleveland.
Hartline was injured Sunday in a 24-10 win over San Francisco. He made eight catches for 107 yards before he got hurt while being tackled in the second half. The Browns said he had surgery on Tuesday in Cleveland. Hartline, who signed as a free agent in the offseason, finished with 46 catches for 523 yards and two touchdowns.
Hartline's injury further depletes Cleveland's wide receivers. Andrew Hawkins has been sidelined with a concussion and Taylor Gabriel only recently returned from a head injury.

Browns WR Brian Hartline (hip, questionable) took limited practice reps all week and is questionable for Week 14. Hartline is expected to play through the hip injury. He has 32 targets in his last three weeks, but hasn’t been as productive with Johnny Manziel under center.
