"He's just one piece of what we're putting together rig...

"He's just one piece of what we're putting together right now," Broncos OC Adam Gase said of TE Julius Thomas. "We're still in that phase of figuring out who's going to be where. And once Joel (Dreessen) comes back, it's figuring out the roles of him, (Jacob) Tamme, Julius, Virgil (Green)."

But here's what's indeed exciting about Thomas — this uber-athleticism. We're seeing it in glimpses — they're more conspicuous than the mistakes that Gase and his guys catch. Have you caught some of these catches made by Thomas? For instance, when he glided downfield to make the pretty catch on what turned out to (almost) be the ugliest play of the preseason, when Montee Ball allowed Peyton Manning to be crunched post-pass. Overall, Thomas leads the Broncos with eight grabs in the two preseason games for 105 yards, good for an average of 13.1 and a long of 31 yards.

Fantasy Impact:

Gase seems to be minimizing Thomas's role at the moment, referring to him as "just one piece" of the offense while going on to list all the other tight ends. Still, he has looked like a great weapon in the preseason, so he's a sleeper to monitor at TE.
