Jets DL Jenkings also tore meniscus

Sitting at his kitchen table on Wednesday night, Jets defensive tackle Kris Jenkins spent nearly an hour talking about his future. And his answer -– that he is still considering returning to the N.F.L. next season –- was unexpected.

Jenkins sustained a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee last season, and the surgery marked the third major surgery of his career. After nearly a year of rehab, Jenkins tore the same ligament in the same knee on his sixth play of this season.

In his first public comments since the injury, Jenkins said Wednesday that he also sustained a torn meniscus in his left knee. He has surgery scheduled for next Wednesday in New Jersey. After the surgery, Jenkins, who considered retirement this off-season and again since the injury, will decide if he wants to attempt another comeback.
