It's a quick update from the original report we had earlier today. Rapoport said in the earlier post Mayfield was looking at a timeline of 2-4 weeks for his dislocated thumb, but it would be much longer if there was additional damage. The Buccaneers have just recently come out and said it will be a minimum of three weeks Mayfield is out, according to a story on Pro Football Talk.

Per multiple reports, the Vikings have traded the tenth overall pick in the 2024 draft, J.J. McCarthy, to the Giants. In return, the Vikings will receive a 2027 fifth-round pick.

As the story said, the Giants have a need at the position after the injury to Dart. Winston was the starter with Haener the backup in Week 2. McCarthy should slide in as the team's QB2 behind Winston for now. And, there seems like there could be a path for McCarthy to take over as the team's QB1 at some point, but that probably depends on how the Giants season goes with Winston under center. The Giants kept him in check in the rain at home in a win over the Titans, but we've all seen both the good and bad with Winston at QB when he's unleashed. It's a quick, fresh start for McCarthy with a new team.

The Jets said WR Garrett Wilson had a head evaluation but is fine.

Head coach Aaron Glenn called Wilson fine and said he was cleared after a head evaluation, which we assume was for a concussion. Wilson went down late in the game and appeared to be in a lot of pain. But it's good news he was already cleared, so we will assume he'll be good to go for Week 4. Wilson had 13 targets, 10 catches for over 100 yards and a TD in Week 3. The Jets were down Mitchell at WR leaving Wilson as the obvious top target. The rookie TE Sadiq looks to be next man up and exploded for a line of 7-105-1 in Week 3 as a result of all the Jets injuries on offense. It will be worth monitoring the injury reports for the Jets this week.

Mayfield dislocated his right thumb, according to Rapoport, and is scheduled for an MRI. Rapoport said the best case is Mayfield missing 2-4 weeks. But, it could be a lot longer if Mayfield tore ligaments in his thumb. The MRI will likely answer those questions, but it looks like Daniels will take over as the Bucs QB, and it likely means a big downgrade for the Tampa weapons.
