RB Jeff Wilson might be the 49ers' goal line back

For fantasy players curious about Jeff Wilson Jr. "vulturing" touchdowns at the goal line, this is what Kyle Shanahan said on Monday: "I wouldn't say he's our designated red-zone back, but that was how we planned going into the game... We tried to do that when we got down there.”

Nick Wagoner went on to say, "there might be no official designation but clearly Wilson gives #49ers a more physical presence and for time being it makes sense to give him carries in short yardage and goal line situations considering success he had last week."

Fantasy Impact:

The 49ers backfield keeps getting messier. Raheem Mostert and Matt Breidsa split work for much of Week 2 with Jeff Wilson grabbing two short touchdown runs and that workload is what we have to go by as we project usage in Week 3 against the Steelers. All three could have value once again, but it is more likely that one or two of the backs ends up left out of strong fantasy points against a tougher run defense this week.
