Palmer to have surgery on thumb

Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer said he is scheduled to have surgery to repair ligament damage in his left thumb next week.

The Bengals' season concluded with a 24-14 loss to the New York Jets.

Palmer wore a protective glove on his left hand after injuring the thumb in the fourth quarter of a 17-14 win over Baltimore in October.
