Jets RB Breece Hall (quad) week to week

According to a joint report from NFL Network and ESPN, running back Breece Hall is considered week-to-week with the quad injury he suffered during Sunday’s loss to the Lions.

Hall’s injury is not as significant as initially feared.

Fantasy Impact:

Hall went down after a run in the second half. The week to week tag puts his status for Week 4 in doubt, however it seems like for the long-term Hall dodged a bullet. The Jets officially said they wouldn't have a report on Hall until Wednesday, so we may get more information at that point. Through three games, Hall has rushed for 163 yards with one touchdown and caught 10 passes for 102 yards. If Hall can't go, Allen would likely see the team's RB1 work. Allen had 10 carries in Week 1, and a touchdown in Week 2, so he's been chipping in as far as the Jets running game goes.

Panthers QB Bryce Young to get tests done

Panthers quarterback Bryce Young never came out of Sunday’s loss to the Browns, but he was moving gingerly after a sack in the first half and he’ll be going for some tests to kick off this week.

Head coach Dave Canales didn’t specify what body part Young injured when he got kicked during the game and said that he thinks the quarterback will be fine for their Week 4 trip to Detroit, but that he’ll get imaging done to make sure there’s nothing more going on.

Fantasy Impact:

The Panthers are just taking precaution it sounds like. The story quoted Canales as saying "He was sore a little bit. I think he took a cleat, I can’t remember exactly where. There was some soreness, he was able to battle through it."

Sources: Bucs QB Baker Mayfield suffered a dislocated thumb but got good news on the MRI. No fracture and no ligament or tendon damage.

It's a quick update from the original report we had earlier today. Rapoport said in the earlier post Mayfield was looking at a timeline of 2-4 weeks for his dislocated thumb, but it would be much longer if there was additional damage. The Buccaneers have just recently come out and said it will be a minimum of three weeks Mayfield is out, according to a story on Pro Football Talk.

Giants trade for QB J.J. McCarthy

Per multiple reports, the Vikings have traded the tenth overall pick in the 2024 draft, J.J. McCarthy, to the Giants. In return, the Vikings will receive a 2027 fifth-round pick.

Fantasy Impact:

As the story said, the Giants have a need at the position after the injury to Dart. Winston was the starter with Haener the backup in Week 2. McCarthy should slide in as the team's QB2 behind Winston for now. And, there seems like there could be a path for McCarthy to take over as the team's QB1 at some point, but that probably depends on how the Giants season goes with Winston under center. The Giants kept him in check in the rain at home in a win over the Titans, but we've all seen both the good and bad with Winston at QB when he's unleashed. It's a quick, fresh start for McCarthy with a new team.
