With RBs Knowshon Moreno and Correll Buckhalter down from the jump and J.J. Arrington with the Philadelphia Eagles following the swap for special-teams standout Joe Mays, the Broncos could revisit the possibility of signing free-agent Brian Westbrook, who visited with the team earlier this offseason.
When healthy, Westbrook is the classic multipurpose back who as recently as 2007 rushed for 1,333 yards and added another 771 yards on 90 receptions.
Westbrook, however, is a health risk following his recent troubles with major concussions.
If the Broncos decide against signing Westbrook, they could get through the preseason with their in-house collection of Bruce Hall, Kolby Smith, Lance Ball and undrafted rookie Toney Baker.
Westbrook is a fantasy risk because of injuries, but he also lacked the explosiveness prior to getting concussions with the Eagles last year.
