Chiefs RB Charles has sore left knee

Running back Jamaal Charles didn’t play much in the second half of Sunday’s loss in Buffalo because of soreness in his knee, Chiefs coach Romeo Crennel said.

Crennel said Charles was likely to be available in this Sunday’s game against the Saints in New Orleans.

But the situation bears watching. Crennel said the soreness was in Charles’ left knee. Charles tore his ACL in the same knee last season.

Soreness in the knee is normal after such an injury and the resulting surgery.

Fantasy Impact:

Charles wanted to go back in the game and Crennel did say that Charles is likely to play this week against the Saints. This is now becoming a risky situation. After an 80-plus yard performance in Week 1, Charles wasn't effective in his time on the field in Week 2 before getting dinged up and owners can't risk single-digit fantasy points from their running backs. We'll continue to monitor Charles this week and see how he does in practices leading up to the game.
