Chiefs Beat: Jamaal Charles 'certainly won't be the starter' in Week 1

Adam Teicher on Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles in Week 1: "If he plays it won't be a lot...he certainly won't be the starter."

Related players: Spencer Ware, Charcandrick West

Fantasy Impact:

Teicher said earlier in the week that the Chiefs "can afford to take the longer view with Charles" due to their good depth at the position. Ware is shaping up to be the primary back in Week 1 if Charles can't play, and it looks like Charles will be limited, at best. Ware should be rostered in most (if not all) formats -- he fared very well in Joe Holka's Rushing Expectation series, and could emerge from the first month of the season with a larger role than expected. Along with James White, Ware is looking like a good Plan B for LeVeon Bell owners who either miss out on DeAngelo Williams or don't want to pay a steep price for three weeks of service. As for Charles, there is some injury concern baked into his current projections, though he looks like a risky pick in the 2nd round given recent events.
