Carson Palmer throws lightly Sunday

Tests on Chiefs rookie wide receiver Cyrus Allen revealed a shin bruise.

That's a lot better than what it could have been, given he was carted off following a collision during a special-teams drill. Allen has been getting rave reviews in camp and could carve out an early role in the Chiefs' offense. The rookie is already becoming a favorite of quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

The Chiefs are evaluating a pair of wide receivers for injuries: Xavier Worthy for a shoulder and Cyrus Allen for a lower leg.

Allen was carted off the field following a collision with cornerback Kaiir Elam during a special teams drill. Allen had been getting rave reviews and was already gaining the trust of quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Worthy had been recovering from his January surgery and was just cleared for return earlier this week.

The 49ers are placing wide receiver Ricky Pearsall on season-ending injured reserve with a knee injury.

Pearsall is getting surgery on his right PCL. It’s an injury that’s been nagging him since last season. He is expected to be fully recovered in time for the 2027 season. The 49ers recently brought back Deebo Samuel, and as it turns out, they had a feeling there was a chance Pearsall would be out, adding reason for the Samuel signing. A very unfortunate set of circumstances for Pearsall, who was thought to be a potential key contributor to the 49ers offense this season.
