Bolts have options if LT stays hobbled

With Chargers RB Ladainian Tomlinson hobbled by a sprained ankle, Darren Sproles had nine rushes and caught five passes in addition to his three punt and five kickoff returns. His 5-yard touchdown run with 18 seconds remaining gave the Chargers their 24-20 victory margin.

“Sproles-y was worn out,” head coach Norv Turner said.

For fans in San Diego and media nationwide, it was just enough of Sproles to remind everyone what he is capable of and to stoke a debate regarding how he should be used.

Tomlinson did not practice Wednesday and was wearing a protective boot on his right ankle. He was neither optimistic nor pessimistic regarding his chances of playing Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens. He was realistic.

“It's not anything that is going to keep me out for a long time,” he said. “We'll just wait and see how it plays out.”

Regardless of whether Tomlinson can play – and Sunday would be the first time he misses a regular-season game due to injury if he doesn't – Michael Bennett will be active against the Ravens.
