49ers trade QB Trey Lance to the Dallas Cowboys for fourth-round pick

Trade: The 49ers are sending their former No. 3 overall pick Trey Lance to the Dallas Cowboys for a mid-round. Lance now gets a fresh start in Dallas.

Fantasy Impact:

All things considered, this feels like a great deal for all teams involved. Regardless of what we think about the 49ers sacrificing so many picks to grab Lance in the first place, it didn't make any sense for them to keep him, as he has apparently become a third-stringer. The Cowboys had to give away only a fourth-round pick for what could be an exciting backup option, and Trey Lance gets a new start after what presumably has been a rough first couple of years in the league.

In fantasy terms, Lance at least becomes a hold in deep 2QB dynasty leagues.

Cowboys QB Dak Prescott asked if he is starting Sunday; “I am,” says he won’t wear a brace. Might wear KT tape, might not but no limitations on grip, etc

Fantasy Impact:

It was a good run for Cooper Rush, but Prescott provides much more fantasy upside as a quarterback, as well as for his pass catchers. This aligns well with Michael Gallup, who has been seeing an uptick in usage since returning from injury, including a season-high 76.1% snap share in Week 6. He becomes a WR2/3 with Dak, while CeeDee Lamb is instantly bolstered into top-five WR territory.

Mike McCarthy said all systems are on track for Dak Prescott, who has been medically cleared.

Hill's tweet went on to say Prescott will participate in the mock game Wednesday and then throw to the receivers after the practice. The plan is for him to go through a full practice on Thursday.

Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy wants to see Dak Prescott go through a full week of practice before the franchise quarterback plays in a game. Prescott will get that opportunity starting Wednesday as he’s expected to be a full participant in practice after being medically cleared.

The story said the Cowboys will rely on their defense and running game, and don't expect Dak to have to throw 40 times to win a game. While it's not what fantasy owners want to here, we rank Dak QB10 heading into Week 7 and he gets a great matchup against the Lions.
