FanDuel Week 17 Slate Breakdown with Cash and GPP Picks
In this space each week, I give my overall FanDuel cash game and tournament strategy thoughts and discuss how players fit into these strategies. By offering a general approach to the week, along with a player pool to consider, you should walk away feeling well-equipped no matter your bankroll strategy or game selection process.
Week 17 is a different beast. Keeping up with news and information is arguably more important than matchups and Vegas lines. Because of the unpredictability of playing time this week, it’s not a bad idea to dial back DFS volume, especially in cash games. Given the nature of the final week of the season, this analysis will focus more on expected playing time and team motivations and less on season-long or matchup data than in week’s past. For cash games, it’s best to stick with teams in a need-to-win scenario or players with concrete confirmation that they will play their normal complement of snaps.
Before setting any lineups, be sure to track which teams are motivated this week.
Rather than providing a position-by-position breakdown, like usual, this week’s cash game section will list teams surely playing their starters and touch on which players at each position are cash-viable, followed by one-off players from other offenses worthy of consideration.
Main Slate Cash Game Strategy
The Cowboys need to beat the Redskins and for the Giants to beat the Eagles in order to win the NFC East. Dak Prescott ($8,000) and Ezekiel Elliott ($8,700) top the value reports at their respective positions against a Redskins team ranked 23rd in schedule-adjusted fantasy points allowed (aFPA) to quarterbacks and 29th against running backs. Dallas is favored by 11 at home with an implied total near 28 and are one of the best salary-saving options at defense.
