Tiered D/ST Rankings Based on Early Strength of Schedule

If you're here, you've hopefully already read my "Streaming D/ST Works and Here's How to Do It" article here at 4for4. If not, pause, click, read, return. In that piece, I laid out why we stream defenses in fantasy, along with the key indicators to look for in a matchup week to week.

With all that context in mind, this piece will use those indicators and a self-adjusted version of 4for4's Hot Spot Strength of Schedule Tool to tier-rank all 32 fantasy D/STs for the first month of the season, giving you a perfect reference for your draft (and September waivers). The Hot Spot tool uses Schedule-Adjusted Fantasy Points Allowed (aFPA) from 2025 to rank opposing offenses, and I've made my own tweaks based on (significant) offseason changes. If I make reference to "red" or "green" matchups, that's a callout to the tool, where red is bad for your D/ST and green is great.
