Buy James Cook

Trade Evaluator: RB7 / 12th overall / 174 Trade Value points

I know I was the guy back in June saying that James Cook would suffer from touchdown regression this season. And I know his four games without a score over the last six weeks (including the bye) don’t look great. But a closer look at his game logs reveals a telling truth: Cook’s only three games with single-digit fantasy points this season came in Weeks 5, 6, and 10 — the Bills’ three losses and only three contests scoring 20 or fewer points. There’s a little chicken-and-egg to that trend, but the reality is that Cook will always be better in positive game scripts when the Bills are finding the red zone and end zone at will. And while they haven’t looked invincible lately, they should be favored in nearly every remaining game on the schedule (outside of the Patriots and Eagles).

Considering Cook has averaged 21.9 fantasy points per game in Buffalo wins, it’s worth betting on a turnaround for the team and the running back down the stretch. He’s an RB1 who might be available at an RB2 price — despite how highly the Trade Evaluator sets his value — after the recent dip.
