Perfect Draft: 12th in a 12-Team ESPN PPR League

Drafting at the number 12 spot in a 12-team league can be something of a mixed blessing. There is the agony of the long wait before you make that first pick and sure, you're likely going to miss out on the true studs, as there is no chance that Christian McCaffrey or Tyreek Hill is sliding to you down there. But, with back-to-back picks, you get a chance to move the draft forward by potentially starting a run at a position, creating a market value for yourself further down the line.

In this article, I will walk through my favorite players in each round that should be available to me based on ESPN ADP and discuss my overall draft strategy from the No. 12 spot in a 12-team PPR league.

My Plan of Attack When Drafting From the 12 Spot

Roster Settings: 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex (WR/RB/TE), 1 Kicker, 1 DEF, 6 bench spots

It is important to remain flexible during your fantasy drafts, but here’s a general overview of how I’d like to build my roster from the No.12 spot:

Wait on kickers and defense until the last two picks of the draft. This has always been my policy, and I don't envision it changing at any point.
Prioritise running backs with a pass-catching pedigree, unless that player has a good chance of dominating team rushing attempts.
If I don't get a quarterback with a strong rushing floor, and even if I do, look to pair the QB I take with at least one pass catcher from his team.
