Today’s NBA Player Prop Bets (February 15, 2023)

Buddy Hield Over 2.5 Assists (+120 at FanDuel)

Buddy Hield will be at All-Star weekend to show off his shooting, but his ability as a connector will be on display tonight.

In an offense dominated as much as it is by Tyrese Haliburton, Hield’s ability as a connector to make the right play to the open player sometimes can go under the radar but the matchup makes it shine. In two games against the Bulls this season, Hield is averaging four assists on 8.5 potential assists. Chicago is a team that defensively can perform before they have to think. They have been respectable against opposing point guards because that is where a lot of the initial pressure comes from, when they get into rotations is where the issues arise.

Hield is often an outlet for Haliburton on the weak side and makes the decision to shoot or move the ball to the corner for an open shot. That sequence happens often against a Bulls team allowing the second-most three-point attempts in the last two weeks and many of those coming from the corners. Chicago’s numbers look good as of late but since their trip to Paris in mid-January, their opponents are shooting an unsustainable 29.3% from behind the arc. Regression is ready to hit the Bulls and Hield should help on the passing and shooting fronts as Indiana is taking the sixth-most threes in the last two weeks.

Hield has gone over this number against other bad defenses, including the last two games but had a three-game stretch before that against the Cavs, Heat, and Suns that have driven his averages down. The matchup is not considered enough in this matchup, making it a play-on.

Risk: 1 unit on FanDuel to win 1.2 units. (Playable to -110)

Alt Line: Buddy Hield Over 3.5 Assists (+290 at FanDuel)

Getting four assists in the last game and in both contests against Chicago makes this worth a play at the juicy number posted.

Risk: .5 units on FanDuel to win 1.45 units.
