Week 9 Fantasy Football Busts: 5 Players to Avoid
We’re getting deeper into the season and learning more about each team weekly. However, the trade deadline and having six teams on bye will put any fantasy manager in a tough spot for Week 9. There are a few gems on the waiver wire to pick up, but I’ve got five guys to plan around for the upcoming games.
Quarterback
Tom Brady (Buccaneers) vs. Rams
Tom Brady is still slinging the rock all over the field. However, the Buccaneers are 18th in yards per drive and 14th in EPA per play. So, my concern isn’t solely focused on Brady and the passing game. It’s their rushing attack holding them back.
Check any rushing efficiency stat, and you’ll find Leonard Fournette at the backend of it. Their offensive line injuries are a critical factor. However, the offense struggles without an efficient running game and a high-volume passing attack. And it won’t get better against the Rams (22.4 aFPA, 15th).
Los Angeles got after Jimmy Garoppolo on 25.0% of his dropbacks for three sacks and limited him to 24 passing yards. Luckily, the 49ers have Christian McCaffrey to run the entire offense. Brady ranks 28th in yards while under pressure, and the running game has stalled out over the last month. He’s a low-end QB1 for Week 9.
