2022 Farmers Insurance Open Round 3 Betting & Showdown Picks

Jon Rahm and Justin Thomas battled head-to-head on Thursday, sharing the lead with each other and fast-charging Adam Schenk at 13-under. Rahm and Thomas combined for 17 birdies between them on the much easier North Course at Torrey Pines. Schenk shot a bogey-free 10-under, including making eight birdies in a row in a career-best performance. Cameron Tringale and Peter Malnati round out the top five. The featured grouping of Rickie Fowler, Jordan Spieth and Bryson DeChambeau all missed the cut, with Spieth having been in the hospital with flu symptoms the night before and DeChambeau grabbing at his lower back in pain on several occasions.

With 79 players advancing through the 3-under cut-line, and play over the last two rounds moving to the difficult South Course, let's not kid ourselves regarding the most likely result of this tournament. Both Jon Rahm and Justin Thomas are the overwhelming favorites to win. Unless something dramatic changes, I have no interest in throwing money away by live-betting any hopeless challengers.

*Since there is no strokes gained data from the North Course, there will not be an SG Rating sheet until after Friday's round when players will have each had two full rounds of data from the South Course.
