DFS Quarterback Analysis: Week 16

An in-depth breakdown of the upside and downside of the QBs on the Week 16 slate is provided below. Analysis includes how to approach each of the chalk options, as well as how options at the various salary tiers fit into overall roster construction. Ultimately, this piece will provide objective analysis to help guide you through the process of finding safe choices for cash games and high-leverage choices for GPPs.

Chalk

Cam Newton projects to be the highest-owned quarterback on both sites. He was my preferred cash game option last week and that remains the same story this week if I can make him work with roster construction.

  • Cam Newton ($8,300/$6,800) arguably has one of the highest floors and ceilings among quarterbacks. Over the last month, Newton is averaging 10 rushing attempts per game, topping 50 rushing yards in three of those four games. He can be an inconsistent passer, but Cam is essentially adding 1-2 passing touchdowns to his stat line with his legs. The Panthers take on a Buccaneers defense allowing a league-high 6.1 yards per play and the Panthers are implied for 28.25 points—the third-highest total on the main slate.
