Streaming Tight Ends: Week 14 Fantasy Football Targets

The fantasy playoffs are upon us, and it’s time to get serious about having the best squad possible at your disposal. It’s time to assess your current roster and see if the TE you drafted is starter-worthy this week or if you are better off grabbing someone off the waiver wire to get the TE1 production your team needs to survive.

The main focus of our research when looking at a TE’s matchup is 4for4’s schedule-adjusted fantasy points allowed (aFPA) metric. As the season continues to progress and more data is available, aFPA becomes more and more reliable, using rolling 10-week data. Targets and efficiency metrics are also considered when coming up with weekly TE streamers.

The goal in streaming is to roster a player that is going to return TE1 fantasy points and I had two guys fit the bill in Week 13. Ben Watson put up TE11 numbers with 11.4 PPR points, followed by Julius Thomas’ 11.0 as TE12. After 13 weeks of football, 4for4 streaming candidates are averaging 8.85 PPR fantasy points per game, which currently ranks as TE14. The optimal TE streamer has 207.1 PPR fantasy points, enough for TE1 on the season thus far. On to Week 14 and the players who’ll help you advance farther into the playoffs.

In order to provide advice that you can actually implement, candidates for streaming must be available in at least 40% of Yahoo fantasy leagues.

Cameron Brate (TB) vs. DET

With Jameis Winston back under center for the Buccaneers, Brate has returned to fantasy relevance, and all is right in the streaming world. The fourth-year TE put up 17.9 PPR points in Week 13, scoring two touchdowns on two receptions.

Tampa Bay faces the Lions this week at home, with both franchises still mathematically eligible for a postseason berth. Detroit ranks 30th in the league in TE aFPA, surrendering an average of 15.9 PPR points to opposing TEs weekly. Yahoo players have him on 56% of rosters at this point in the season, so grab him for this week if you can. Brate’s remaining schedule toughens up after Week 14 so plan accordingly.
