ARI WR Ted Ginn - Week 2, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 – Ted Ginn vs. New York Giants
Ted Ginn had a 21 yard kickoff return, and had 48 total return yards, but he only had two catches on offense for 29 yards. Clearly outplayed by rookie John Brown who brings similar explosiveness to the offense, Ginn will be fighting for scraps in the Cardinals passing offense. In leagues that reward return yardage, Ginn might be worth a bench spot, but until he shows he’s going to become more than just the fourth receiver in Arizona, fantasy owners should probably leave him on waivers.

Week 1 – Ted Ginn vs. San Diego
Ted Ginn will be the main return man in Arizona and he’ll battle it out with rookie John Brown and second year man Jaron Brown for snaps and targets behind the two starters in the Arizona receiving corps. Ginn gets some added value in leagues that give return yardage, as he’ll be effective in both the punt and kick return game. He was productive as a third receiver in Carolina last year, but until he shows he’s ready to carve out a consistent and reliable role in Arizona, he’s not really worth an add in most leagues.

Fantasy Upside
Ted Ginn is capable of handling multiple roles for the Cardinals. He’s a speedy No. 3 or 4 wide receiver who also returns punts and kicks. The 28-year-old Ohio State product caught 36 passes for 556 yards and five touchdowns this past season in Carolina. He had a healthy 15.4 yards per reception. Ginn also averaged 23.8 yards per kickoff return and 12.2 on punts. He was sixth in the NFL on punt returns and 16th on kickoffs.

Fantasy Downside
Ginn played sparingly this summer as John Brown was given as many reps possible in advance of an anticipated significant role. Brown's success could determine how much we see Ginn in the regular offense.

Bottom Line
Ginn will be a huge factor in the return game and if he's on the field in the regular offense enough, the speedster could emerge as a viable waiver-wire pickup.
