NO WR Ted Ginn Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at New York Giants

Ted Ginn caught 3-of-6 targets for 12 yards and a touchdown while also racking up 20 additional yards on the ground on his lone rushing attempt in the Saints’ Week 3 win over the Falcons. He wasn’t targeted in the second half and dropped a couple of passes early but fantasy owners who took a shot on him were rewarded with the score. Ranked as our No. 47 WR for Week 4, Ginn will remain a dart throw when the Saints visit the Giants.

NO WR Ted Ginn - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Atlanta Falcons

Ted Ginn caught 4-of-7 targets for 55 yards in the Saints’ Week 2 win over the Browns. He also lost a fumble in the first half and could have had a touchdown had Drew Brees not underthrown the pass with him streaking open. Ginn remains a weekly boom-or-bust streaming option and ranks as our No. 39 WR for Week 3. Unless you’re willing to take a chance on Ginn scoring a touchdown on a deep pass, avoid him for Sunday’s matchup against the Falcons.

NO WR Ted Ginn Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Cleveland Browns

Ted Ginn caught five passes for 68 yards and a touchdown while also adding one carry for five yards in the Saints’ Week 1 loss versus the Bucs. Ginn also caught a two-point conversation late in the fourth quarter but caused most of his damage in the first half. The touchdown was Ginn’s 30th of his career and his six targets were third-most on the team behind Michael Thomas’ whopping 16 targets and Alvin Kamara’s 12. Ranked as our No. 48 WR, Ginn remains a dart throw. That said, he’s capable of catching a long touchdown every week.

NO WR Ted Ginn - 2018 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside

In his first year in New Orleans, Ted Ginn carved out a role for himself in the Saints offense. Targeted 70 times on the year, Ginn finished with 53 receptions for 787 yards and 4 touchdowns, which placed him as fantasy's WR35. Essentially a gadget player for most of his career, Ginn has now topped 700 receiving yards in each of his last three seasons (two in Carolina and one in New Orleans). Even with Michael Thomas and newcomer Cameron Meredith drawing targets in the Saints' passing game, Ginn will once again serve as the team's primary deep threat.

Fantasy Downside

Ginn has never finished higher than fantasy's WR26. If healthy, Meredith is a better option than Willie Snead in the passing game and thus, Ginn's targets will be limited. With Thomas, Meredith and Alvin Kamara to feed in the passing game, Ginn's ceiling isn't very high.

2018 Bottom Line

Ginn ranks as our No. 50 WR heading into the season. His ADP in 10-team leagues is 17.03 and 14.07 in 12-team leagues. While he will once again be a weekly dart throw, Ginn will have some streaming appeal depending on the matchup. He's worth a late-round flier and is good WR depth.

NO WR Ted Ginn Divisional Round Fantasy Football Outlook

Divisional Round at Minnesota Vikings

Ted Ginn caught 4-of-6 targets for 115 yards and a touchdown in the Saints' victory over the Panthers in the Wild Card round. New Orleans' offense was stagnant for most of the first quarter until Drew Brees found a streaking Ginn for an 80-yard score and the first points of the game. Brees tried to hit him deep again just before halftime but the pass was broken up.

Ginn is worth another look in DFS this weekend when the Saints travel to Minnesota to take on the Vikings. Minnesota owns the No. 2 ranked defense against fantasy receivers this season but Ginn is a home run threat and has found the end zone in two of his last three games. He ranks as our No. 10 WR for the Divisional Round.

NO WR Ted Ginn Wild Card Round Fantasy Football Outlook

Wild Card Round vs. Carolina Panthers

Ted Ginn caught 3-of-6 targets for 33 yards in the Saints’ Week 17 loss to the Bucs. He had a 23-yard gain at one point but otherwise was quiet as New Orleans fell in Tampa. Ginn will be a sneaky start on Sunday when the Saints host the Panthers in the Wild Card round. For starters, Carolina ranks 31st against fantasy receivers this season, so Ginn draws a great matchup. Furthermore, Ginn will be facing his former team, so John Paulsen’s “old team theorem” applies to the veteran receiver this weekend. Ranked as our No. 9 WR for Wild Card weekend, Ginn is a nice option as a WR3 in DFS or playoff formats.

NO WR Ted Ginn Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Ted Ginn caught 4-of-5 targets for 76 yards and a touchdown in the Saints’ Week 16 win over the Falcons. Holding a 6-0 lead right before halftime, Ginn caught a 54-yard touchdown after beating Desmond Trufant across the field. He also had a pass go off his hands on the opening drive of the second half that landed in the waiting arms of Atlanta linebacker Deion Jones.

Ranked as our No. 27 WR for Week 17, Ginn is a FLEX option when the Saints visit the Bucs on Sunday. Tampa Bay ranks 25th against fantasy receivers so it’s a great matchup for Ginn and Co.

NO WR Ted Ginn Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. New York Jets

Ted Ginn caught just 2-of-2 targets for 10 yards in the Saints' Week 14 loss to the Falcons. His second catch came on the Saints' final offensive drive as he took a shot following an 11-yard reception over the middle. He somehow managed to hang on to the ball, although the catch would eventually be for naught as Drew Brees was intercepted in the end zone on New Orleans' final offensive play of the game.

Ginn was limited on Thursday but did practice. Ranked as our No. 45 WR for Week 15, avoid using him on Sunday when the Saints host the Jets. He's nothing but a dart throw.

NO WR Ted Ginn - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at Atlanta Falcons

Ted Ginn caught 2-of-3 passes for 27 yards in the Saints' Week 13 win over the Panthers. He also added 6 yards on his lone carry. It was a disappointing afternoon for Ginn, who has had some big moments this season. Ranked as our No. 37 WR for Week 14, avoid Ginn on Thursday night when the Saints travel to Atlanta to play the Falcons. He's a dart throw at this point.

NO WR Ted Ginn - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Carolina Panthers

Ted Ginn caught 7-of-11 targets for 71 yards in the Saints' Week 12 loss to the Rams. The targets were a season-high for Ginn, who saw three more opportunities than Michael Thomas. He's now posted double-digit fantasy production in three of his last four games.

On Sunday, the Saints will host Ginn's former team, the Panthers, in a pivotal NFC South matchup in New Orleans. If you subscribe to John Paulsen's "Old Team Theorem" strategy, then Ginn could make for a sneaky start on Sunday. He ranks as our No. 34 WR for Week 13.
