Week 14 vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Mike Gesicki saw a team-high 11 targets last week, finishing with a strong 9-88-1 game (his nine receptions are a season-high). It's the first time he's had at least 45 yards in a game since Week 5, so this is more of an anomaly performance than a sign of things to come. Still, Gesicki has been much more consistent with his production lately and has made himself a valuable low-end TE1 in this shallow fantasy position. He gets a favorable matchup against the Chiefs this week, who have allowed the 10th-most receiving yards to tight ends this season.
Week 13 vs. Cincinnati Bengals
Mike Gesicki finished 2-35-1 on five targets last week as Ryan Fitzpatrick took over at quarterback. Gesicki has been fairly consistent lately, finishing between 35-45 receiving yards over his last four games. That's about what you can expect from him in Week 13 against a favorable Bengals defense. Cincy has given up the most total receiving yards to tight ends so far this season. Gesicki can be viewed as a low-end TE1 play in Week 13.
Week 12 at New York Jets
Mike Gesicki finished 4-43 on five targets last week. After a career of inconsistency, Gesicki has started to settle in as he's now finished between 40-45 receiving yards in each of his last three games. He gets a favorable matchup against the Jets this week, but it is worth noting Gesicki had 0 yards when he played the Jets earlier in the year. Still, Gesicki offers some low TE1 appeal in Week 12.
Week 11 at Denver Broncos
Mike Gesicki played on 48% of the offensive snaps last week, his second-lowest number this season. He saw a healthy five targets, but finished 2-40. His tight end partner Durham Smythe played on 67% of the offensive snaps and finished 2-9-1. While Smythe caught the touchdown, Gesicki is the better fantasy option overall as he's averaging 4.6 targets per game compared to Smythe's 1.3. Still, in the three games with Tagovailoa as starter, Gesicki is only averaging two receptions for 30 yards. He's a low-end TE1 in Week 11, but that's mostly because the TE position is shallow with talent. He faces a Broncos defense that has only allowed two touchdowns to tight ends all season.
Week 10 vs. Los Angeles Chargers
Mike Gesicki had one of his more productive games in a while last week, finishing 3-42 on four targets. While it wasn't a monster performance, it's nice to see Gesicki have at least an average game. He's essentially been a boom-or-bust player this season. Heading into last week's game, Gesicki had one reception or less in four of his last five games. He gets a favorable matchup this week against the Chargers, who have allowed the third-most receiving touchdowns to tight ends (6) this season. Gesicki is on the lower-end of TE1 status in Week 10.
Week 9 at Arizona Cardinals
Mike Gesicki finished with a single reception for eight yards on two targets last week as the Dolphins didn't do much on offense. Gesicki now has one reception or less in four of his last five games. Until he has more consistency, Gesicki isn't worth much. He's outside the top-20 tight ends in our rankings for Week 9.
Week 8 vs. Los Angeles Rams
Mike Gesicki finished with a goose egg last week. He's now had one or fewer receptions in three of his last four games. Gesicki has shown some promise this season, but he's been a very hot-and-cold option. He faces a good Rams defense this week, but the Rams have been surprisingly favorable to tight ends so far in 2020. It'll be interesting to see how Gesicki gets along with new quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Gesicki has low-end TE1 appeal in Week 8.
Week 6 vs. New York Jets
Mike Gesicki looked good last week, finishing 5-91 on six targets. Gesicki is a hard player to get a read on as he's sandwiched two one-catch games in the middle of two productive games. Gesicki is a boom-or-bust type player, but he plays a position where there are a lot of those. Gesicki is a low-end TE1 play this week against the Jets.
Week 5 at San Francisco 49ers
Mike Gesicki finished with one reception for the second straight week. In fact, his stat line was the same as the week before (1-15 on three targets), just minus the touchdown. It's disappointing, especially when you consider the Dolphins threw for over 300 yards in the game. He gets a tough matchup this week against the 49ers, who have allowed the fourth-fewest receiving yards (105) to tight ends this season. San Francisco also has not allowed a touchdown to a tight end this season. Despite this, Gesicki still offers some promise that most tight ends don't. He'll be a borderline TE1 play considering the position's shallow pool of talent.
Week 4 vs. Seattle Seahawks
After a dominating performance in Week 2, Mike Gesicki caught just one pass in Week 3. It happened to be a touchdown, but it's disappointing to see him go from 11 targets to one catch in the span of two weeks. Despite the letdown game, we still like Gesicki as a low-end TE1 option moving forward. He faces a Seahawks defense that has surprisingly allowed the eighth-fewest receiving yards to tight ends this season, despite giving up an average of 400+ passing yards each game.
